First of all, that guy you "hired" is not a lawyer - if he is, then you need to report him to the bar ociation. Whether he is or isn't, you might also want to make a phone call to the D.A.'s office - they will probably be very interested in your story. Bad news is that you were given bad advice from a con-man, and that man has run off with your doents and your money along with who knows how many other people's money that he was "helping". You need to contact the bank and get in touch with someone who is willing to negotiate with you - go IN PERSON if at all possible. The bank is not taking partial payments because the house is in foreclosure - that is standard procedure. If your local news station has a consumer reporter, you might want to contact them - maybe they can get the ball rolling or at the very least expose this "lawyer" for the shiester he is to alert other homeowners.
