What is the point of being in a fraternity?

I mean a legitimate reason why we tend to want to be a part of something. like 90 something percent of us would rather be conformed and in a sort of "family" or "brotherhood", but isn't being yourself and raw a more intense lifestyle? idk i mean i love being me everywhere even when in weird situations i just exhibit myself the way i should not in "popular social way of interacting" you kno?
