Is there something paranormal in my basement?

ok so wen we first moved to this house about 2 years ago i started hearing bangs and weird sounds coming from our basement. i never really thought anything of it and nothing much has really happened except for the sounds. whenever i go down there i just feel reallyy nervous like someone is watching me. well today my dog was acting normal and everything but all of a sudden i heard whining coming from the basement. i ran down there to find my dog laying on the concrete in a corner...first of all he NEVER goes in the basement, he has never like it down there, second of all he NEVER lays on concrete he always has to lay on a rug or something. anyways he looked petrified and was shaking so bad i didn'tknow wat to do! he was looking around everywhere nervously and when i tryed to get him back upstairs with a treat he wouldnt budge! he was scared out of his mind but there was no one in the house and idk what could have scared him...could this be paranormal??
